I felt the need to ramble

Art news:
Lol, I did a portrait of Paul McCartney. It FAILED. Epically XD I might upload it for giggles, to show you how off and how bad it was, but for now I'm trying to fix it in PS. I'm gonna try again soon though.

Some stuff for others is getting done... I've been doing concept work for a story lately, and a lot of it. I've also got a hippogriff in the works, a sketch of my dream room (which was a relaxing project) was finished last night. I'm workin' on fixing that up in PS, too :D

I'll be a bit more active soon enough.

Life news:
I set up my new printer! Yay!

And my cat is fat again :D She was a chubby baby, then she lost almost all of her baby fat very quickly as she got older, 'cos she was outside all the time and she's an okay hunter at best. She meows a lot, so my family got more and more pissed at her until the only way they all dealt with her meowing was by tossing her outside, instead of giving her the attention she wanted. My sister would just sit and yell at her. So she spent a ton of time outside, only coming in to eat for like a minute before dashing out again. She lost a lot of weight and when she finally came back in, you could feel her hip bones. Now you can't even see them anymore XD She was also a bit neurotic from the way everyone (but me, because she was my baby and I couldn't be mean to her) yelled at her and treated her, but she's calmed down a lot, and isn't really as loud as she used to be. And like I said, she's a solid wall of fat over a bunch of muscle. I dunno why I felt the need to say this, but it's just making me really happy.

I met my great grandfather yesterday... It was cool, but kinda odd. You see, my mom's father was put up for adoption as a baby, and he was adopted by the people who I've known as my great grandparents all my life. A few years back my mom wanted to go looking for my grandfather's parents, but then decided against it, because she realized that when she met them, she would have to explain to them that her father/their son had died in a car crash before even she was born. So she backed off. Then a little while later, my grandfather's sister (my new great-aunt Judy) went looking for her family (her missing brother and all) and found us, so mom was able to meet her and we welcomed her into our family (she's awesome, really :D She's hilarious, and a really sweet woman. I personally adore her :D) and mom was able to meet her grandfather, too. And last week my mom said she wanted me and my sister to meet him at some point this week. So we all hopped in the car yesterday and drove up to meet him. He's a really nice guy. I was a little nervous about meeting him, because I figured he would be this super old, super prim, super angry dude, but he was really relaxed and easy-going. He kept looking at me and my sister strangely, but I kind of figure he was just amazed that the son he was forced to give up had a daughter who had daughters. It must be pretty difficult to adjust to, having great-grandaughters you never knew you had XD Me and my sister were wondering what to call him though- his name is John, but he's our great-grandfather... Of course, we just met him yesterday, so is it weird if we call him great-grampa or something like that? My sister asked him and he said "You can call me anything but in the morning." XD Took her a second to figure that out lol.

Of course my sister and I kept chattering about the Beatles though. We went to his house, then went out to lunch, and while we were sitting in his living room as he went to get his coat, I just turned to my sister and parents and muttered, "He's very clean..." in a British accent XD It's a quote from 'Hard Day's Night' (the movie) in case yeh didn't know. But apparently John (my great-grandfather, not Lennon) was in WWII, in the Coral Sea. That makes it 3 great-grandfathers. My fourth was busy earning educational awards and proving stuff about the Spanish Armada XD John and my dad talked about a lot of war stuff. It was interesting to listen to, but my sister was acting crazy, which was fun to watch and listen to XD She made John laugh really hard and my dad just kept staring at her like, "Oh my god... this is what my genes have done to the world..." XD

So yeah, very interesting day yesterday.

Oh yeah, went to HP exhibit again. I got more chocolate frogs and finally got a Dumbledore card! WHOOT! I saw SO MANY GINGERS there this time! I wanted to tackle this one ginger kid and be like, "YOU LOOK LIKE A WEASLEY." My cousins were like, "STOP CALLING THEM WEASLEYS!" but this one kid looked so much like how I imagine Bill it was creepy.

I'm gonna go finish some more story planning before I go to my friend's house for New Years. I love this story so far. The main character and his friends are based of off people in real life, and I really like these people. Plus the story's falling very neatly into place. So yeah, bye all, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas - Avatar - Beatlemania

My Christmas=FANTABULICIOUS
I had a ton of fun and got a bunch of awesome presents. We had our usual Christmas Eve at my house and that was awesome. My family is big enough that we have to do a drawing to see who has to buy for who (like Secret Santa, minus the secret part), so my aunt got me a book about Jane Goodall- that she ordered from Florida. She couldn't find it here, so she went to the internet :D I was so excited to get it. I've started reading and seeing all the chimps that I haven't read about in a while and remembering Flo's whole family tree :) It was great.

Then Christmas day I got a new printer, a total of six musicals on DVD, a Mary Poppins CD, a bunch of nice clothes, earrings, a bit of Bare Minerals make up, and tons of HP stuff :D A tie, five bookmarks, and A QUILL PEN. I've already started playing with it. First thing I wrote? "Hi. My name is Harry Potter." "Hello Harry Potter, my name is Tom Riddle." Followed by "I LOVE COOKIESSSSSSSS!!!" XD I'm cool :D

Dudes/Dudettes- today, I SAW AVATAR. AND IT WAS AMAZING. I know a lot of you have probably gotten journals about it, and are probably sick of hearing about it, but it was an amazing movie. Very long. 3 FULL HOURS. It was awful sitting for that long and not being able to do anything else. But it was brilliantly done. So go see it. Now. Or at least, whenever you feel like it... Yeah...

My house has been struck with Beatlemania. It has TAKEN US OVER. My sister's in love with George. She's going to "marry him in heaven". Because that's how it works of course XD I like Paul, personally. Well, I like him for his looks, George for his hair, John for his humor, and Ringo's adorable in his actions. But expect some Beatle art- I'm working on a Paul portrait, and although it's nowhere near being done, it's pretty good so far. And now that I've said that, it'll come out terrible. Ah well, at least I'll have tried :D

So yeah, bai everyone :D

Oh yeah, P.S.- Weirdly, my drawing directly on the computer is getting kinda blah. I'll be drawin' on paper for a while now, so if you're waiting for something, it's going to take a fair bit longer.

Quick Update

The Christmas thing for today might come a little late, since I won't get a chance to work on it until about 7 I'm assuming, and I've got work to do for school as well, so it might not get done today at all. To the person it's for, you will get it before Christmas- I'll make sure of it.

I also goofed off last night when I could have been working on it... Yeah, I kinda made a caution sign thingy for Mythbusters. I was in the mood to try something different and be a dork. But it's actually turning out pretty good, so I'll have to post it when it's done. I'm having trouble with the Hyneman mustache with the style I'm using, so it might take a bit. I want this design for a t-shirt so bad though XD I would wear it ALL THE TIME.

So yeah, that's what's goin' down.

OMG I'm DONE - Wishlist - Adoptions

Mon Dec 7, 2009, 5:11 PM
To Do List and Art Status - Crystal Lake Stables - Watcher Feature

I've finally worked my way through the thousand deviations I've had piling up in my inbox. Holy crap that took a long time. At least a week. But now I can rest easy and work on some nice art :D

(Secretly stolen from *gothic180 while I was internet stalking some artz and de artzizts that I like.)

The point of this is to post 10 things you want for Xmas!
And if someone knows they can do it (Preferably without spending money) then they can!
If you post a link to a wishlist in your journal, I'll try and get something done for you before the holidays. There are a few of you- you probably know who you are- who are getting a holiday/new year's present anyways, but I'd be really happy to get idears and stuff for things you actually want, instead of just fursona's all over the place.
Note: I'm in a design-y mood. Dunno why. Regardless, I'd love to design some shtuffs for people- just gimme a creature and I'll do something.

1. Doodles of meh babies (characters). I figure that's an obvious thing here.
2. Collabs with people- meaning someone offers up an idea that we can work together on. I'd prefer to color and shade, because I hate lineart, but I'd be happy to do anything.
3. Help with Dill's story. I'm still flailing and failing with it. (Dill is my squirrel character, seen here:[link])
4. Characters for Dill's story- squirrely dudes and dudettes. No mom and pop squirrelies for Dill and his sister though. They're not part of the picture for whatever reason.
5. A good kick in the pants to get me to finish my Avatar fanfic/Euthalia's story/ANY story.
6. A HARRY POTTER ROLEPLAY. Seriously. I NEED one. I've got my character all figured out and everything.
7. Book recommendations.
8. Good tutorials for real media/backgrounds.
9. Now that I think of it, an Avatar roleplay'd be nice.
10. And I can't think of a 10th- I had to push myself just to get the nine XD

I'm also planning on adopting out characters who aren't being loved enough anymore. They're just rotting in my gallery and I'd love for them to go to a good home. So basically I'm adopting out all the characters in my gallery that I haven't drawn recently that have names. This includes the one-time-drawing characters, as long as they have names. The list so far:
- Dmitri- Although you'll probably want to change his name if you want him. He was a contest entry, so his name and history should be changed.
- Emma- The one in the foreground, the gray one. I'm suddenly not diggin' her design anymore and can't figure out a place for her in Diesel's vague story.
- Philippe- As much as it pains me to give him up- I spent a WEEK on his sketch- I'm a terrible character owner and he definitely deserves better.
- Jayson- I'm not taking care of him like I thought I would.
- Carlos- He was a one time character, but I hate to see his design go to waste.
- Awentia- Not my precious baby Awentia. Not my wolfie. The bear I doodled a while ago. She has no body, so you can do what you want with that.
- Enitan- A one time guy that I liked. Hindquarters are not designed. Have fun.

All drawings of them in my gallery will be sent to storage/scraps when the character is adopted.
Rules for adopting:
1. Draw within a week of asking for it.
2. Include the character's name (if changing), age, a bit of a history and what you plan on doing with it. You don't have to write a story about the character- you can just have it as a DA pet.
3. Draw the character periodically. I like these designs, and I don't want to see them go to waste. If you feel you've neglected them after some time, send them back my way and I'll put them back up/put them up for adoption yourself.
You can ask for more than one, but no hoarding (as if you'd want to). Also, please understand if I reject an application- if I feel you didn't put a ton of work into it, I'm not going to say yes.

A complaint - Harry Potter!

To Do List and Art Status - Crystal Lake Stables - Watcher Feature

So I worked today. And guess what? The people who go to that temple are awful. Well, most of them are pretty good and very nice, but there are a bunch of shit heads who should just shut up. There was one guy who came up to me at the drink table and was like, "You know... Cold soda fizzes less that warm soda..." Okay yeah, the soda's warm. That's why we have fucking ice for you, dipshit. And then while my sister and I were cleaning up the dessert table, she dropped two pairs of tongs on the floor when she had two trays of cookies in her hands to take back. So I pick up the tongs and toss them on the tray, and this 300 pound whale of a woman's like, "WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?" And she's going on about how we just wasted the cookies- 7 cookies, each about like, half an inch in width, mind you, so they're not so fucking great- and that we should save them. And I had to apologize. I had to say it was a mistake. There were seven COOKIES. It's not like I smashed a diamond or broke a gold necklace or something. They cost like, two bucks at the store. But apparently she needed even MORE fat for the winter, because she and her equally whale-ish friend started talking to my sister and I like we were retarded criminals.

And that is why people hate most Jews. Because the few, the proud, the douchey ones give the nice polite ones a bad rap. Stereotypes gotta start somewhere I guess.

But besides those to assholes, working was good. And the week's been great. I went to the Harry Potter exhibit in the Science Museum! It was amazing! They had a ton of props from the movies, like the vial for the Felix Felicis, and the wardrobe they used to hold the boggart in Lupin's class, and the had HERMIONE'S DRESS FROM THE YULE BALL! They had a ton of costumes. But dude, British people are SHORT. All the clothes look like they belong to like, pre-teens and stuff XD Daniel Radcliff's especially lol. They had a Quidditch section and a big thing where you could throw Quaffles into the hoops, and they had a Herbology section where you could pull up electronic mandrakes that screamed, AND THEY HAD HAGRID'S HUT WHERE YOU COULD SIT IN A GIANT CHAIR. And they had pictures on the walls in some places that were videos of people like waving and sitting and sleeping and at the end, clapping :D

The whole exhibit empties out into a shop where you can buy craploads of Harry Potter merchandise. I got myself a Gryffindor scarf. And I think my parents and sister just bought all of my Christmas presents there XD

BEST PART OF THE WHOLE EXHIBIT WAS THAT YOU GOT SORTED. They have you come into a hallway with the Sorting Hat sitting on a stool at the end (the guy said it was one of a couple used in the movies) and then they called a few people up to sort them. Since it was a small group, most kids got sorted. I was the first :D I got so wrapped up in it all and the excitement that when he asked "Who want's to be sorted?", by the time he got to the word "be" I had my hand in the air and was like, "OMG MEEEEEEEEEE." So I sat down on the chair (okay, so I leapt for the chair and sat there with my fingers crossed) and he's like, "What's your favorite house?" So I said Gryffindor (of course) and he puts the hat on my head and you hear a voice say, "Hmm... Brave of heart... GRYFFINDOR!" And I leapt to my feet with a happy fist pump. Because I'm that dorky.

So yeah, I'm sitting here in my scarf (which I've hardly taken off and will be wearing to school on Monday) and workin' on some new pictures. I've got a pic of Mel's new babies (yes, PLURAL!) and a few things I owe people. I also sketched myself as a Gryffindor student while I was watching the movie last night, so once I finish some other stuff, expect to see that. I think I might be mostly- if not completely- back!

EDIT/P.S.: Someone roleplay Harry Potter with me. I want to write something, but don't want to write a story by myself or anything. I have to warn you though, I will put way too much thought into everything about my characters if we do roleplay that series.
